Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organized by theWorld Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The event is held worldwide annually encouraging individuals, communities,
households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to
9:30 p.m. towards the end of March, as a symbol for their commitment to
the planet
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an internationalnon-governmental
organization founded on April 29, 1961,
working in the field of the wilderness preservation, and the reduction of
humanity's footprint on the environment. It was formerly named the World
Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States.
The group's
mission is "to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment
and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
